Terrace Downs Villa Accommodation Providers

Rakaia Villas at Terrace Downs operate as an independent booking service for a select few 2-3 bedroom luxury villas located on the 18th fairway at Terrace Downs. The deluxe villas are offered for rent directly by their owners and available 7-days per week. The Resort is closed Monday to Thursdays but golf is available and accommodation is available from us. We promise our guests a taste of "High Country Magic" at this fabulous outdoor playground!

Terrace Downs is sited beside the Rakaia Gorge and in the lee of the towering Mt Hutt mountain range. Nestled at the base of Mt Hutt in the Canterbury foothills, an hour out of Christchurch and the heart of New Zealand's South Island high country. Each Terrace Downs Villa offers commanding views of the golf course and mountains beyond.

Lake Coleridge and Mt Hutt Ski Field

Rakaia Villas is an ideal base if you wish to fish or ski. Offering access to salmon and trout fishing at Lake Coleridge and the Rakaia River. Mt Hutt ski area, Mt Olympus and located in the Craigieburn Range of New Zealand's Southern Alps is the popular Porter Heights ski area, offering both the longest and steepest runs in the Southern Hemisphere.

A Spectacular Golf Course

The Terrace Downs Golf Course is open to the public. It is not owned or operated by Terrace Downs Villas. The course's signature hole is probably the 16th - certainly the most spectacular on the course. The tee hangs over the gorge and you can gaze down at the blue ribbon of the Rakaia 200m below. Mt Hutt looms in the distance. The green's a mere 130m from the back tee, but don't be short: two ravines fall away to the river through thick bush, a deep pot bunker sits in front of the green and another to the left. If you plan to play golf please ensure the course is open to the public on the day you wish to visit.
